Teaching

Teaching Philosophy:

As a teacher, I strive to create a supportive and empowering space where students can grow not just as clarinetists, but as confident, curious, and expressive artists. Rooted in empathy and informed by my own journey, my teaching goes beyond technique to nurture self-awareness, emotional connection, and independent thinking. I encourage students to listen deeply, take creative risks, and engage with music in a way that reflects their individuality. My goal is to develop not only skilled performers, but resilient, thoughtful musicians who continue to grow long after they leave my studio.

Experience:

I bring several years of diverse teaching experience to both private and academic settings. I currently serve as an Adjunct Clarinet Instructor at William Jewell College, where I teach applied clarinet lessons and mentor developing musicians. I have taught clarinet at various levels, from beginners to advanced college students, and previously held a graduate teaching assistantship at the University of Akron, where I taught applied lessons and supported undergraduate instruction. I have also coached chamber music at the University of Missouri–Kansas City Conservatory and taught privately at the Strongsville Academy of Music.

In addition, I have worked with students through masterclasses, workshops, and summer programs, helping them grow as performers, ensemble members, and artists.

What I offer:

  • Private Lessons (In-person & virtual)
  • Chamber Music Coaching
  • Audition Preparation (Youth orchestras, college auditions, competitions)
  • Repertoire Expansion (Including music by underrepresented composers)
  • Musicianship & Interpretation Coaching

Whether you are preparing for an audition or picking up the clarinet for the first time, I tailor lessons to your goals, background, and unique voice as a musician.
